You are to assume the role of one of the theorists in the Great Individual Theory debate. In the role of your selected theorist you are to choose five individuals that have been studied in the course so far to create historical trading cards. These will be posted for comparison and possibly trading! Create the demand!
Trading Cards - Instructions:
- Choose one of the theorists covered in the Interactive Activity within the Content section of Activity 1 (Carlyle, Spencer, Hook or Carr). You will assume the role of your selected theorist.
- Select FIVE historical figures from the course to date (from 1500 to 1815) that will be interpreted and ranked by the theorist you have selected. You are encouraged to include both European and non-European, and both male and female historical figures for variety and tradability.
- Create one trading card for each historical figure selected. The card should have his/her visual image and a clear concise biography covering his/her life as well as his/her historical accomplishments. You are encouraged to be creative. * Don't forget you are in role and you are writing this information from the perspective of one or the theorists in step 1.
- Clearly indicate how this person came to power, using the theorist's point of view. (For example, Carlyle would have said that Sulayman the Magnificent was inherently great and no other could have achieved the zenith of Ottoman rule as he did. This is because...)
- Rank these trading cards from most valuable to least valuable. Assign 25 to the most valuable.
Ranking Order
The trading cards will be posted to the Bulletin Board after the due date.
